REQUESTING A SPECIAL EDUCATIONEVALUATION

IDENTIFYING A CHILD'S DISABILITY IS THE FIRST STEP TOWARDS RECEIVING SPECIAL EDUCATION SERVICES.  IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO REQUEST THAT YOUR CHILD BE EVALUATED BY THEIR SCHOOL, FOLLOW THE TIPS BELOW OR CONTACT HOLAN LAW, PLLC TO HELP IN THE PROCESS.

WRITING A REQUEST FOR EVALUATION DOES NOT HAVE TO BE STRESSFUL.

FIRST, MAKE SURE YOU DATE YOUR LETTER.

THIS IS IMPORTANT BECAUSE SCHOOLS HAVE TO EVALUATE STUDENTS WITHIN A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF TIME AFTER A REQUEST IS MADE.

SECOND, IDENTIFY YOURSELF AND YOUR CHILD.

MAKE SURE YOU INCLUDE THEIR NAME, DATE OF BIRTH, GRADE LEVEL, AND TEACHER.

THIRD, BE BRIGHT, BE BRIEF, AND BE GONE.

EXPLAIN WHAT ISSUE YOU SEE AND WHY YOU THINK YOUR CHILD NEEDS TO BE EVALUATED OR REEVALUATED.

LAST, PROVIDE YOUR CONACT INFORMATION.

TELL THE SCHOOL WHAT EMAIL AND PHONE NUMBER THEY SHOULD USE TO CONTACT YOU.
